McDonald Island’s splash pad was shut down due to deterioration of their splash pad surfacing. We were brought in to remove the existing material and to replace it with Life Floor.
Project Solution:
McDonald Island was needing their indoor Waterpark to be renovated in order for them to reopen. The surfacing that was there when we were contracted, had been there for around 10 years – since the facility was originally opened. The material was deteriorating so badly that it was becoming a safety hazard. It was also starting to have water leak into it, so it was becoming pretty gross with black mould.
The scope of our work was to remove all of the existing surfacing, and prepare the concrete underneath to have Life Floor surfacing installed. Management went with a very fun interactive “beach” design which brought the space to life. We were also contracted to install Life Floor on the play structure as well. There was no existing surfacing on the play structure, but the addition of Life Floor made it much safer to run and play on because of the increased traction.
